History

  1. Indian Red Cross Society, Karimganj District Branch was established in the year 1952.
  2. It is a voluntary Organization affiliated to Assam State Branch under National Red Cross which is one of the constituents of International Red Cross Organization. The society is engaged in rendering service to the humanity in distress or in any calamity natural or man-maid which is the principal motto of the organization.
  3. It is not a Govt. Organization. It thrives on charity.
  4. I.R.C.S. Karimganj District Branch is run by a managing body elected by the members of the organization having Deputy Commissioner is the Ex-officio President of the body.
  5. The Society has a fully fledged 50 bedded Hospital having Maternity & child welfare Centre in its fold. The Hospital is equipped with two operation theatres for the treatment of general patients male & female. It has outpatient department also. The Hospital maintains fully fledged ophthalmic wing having the provision for micro surgery.
  6. This Society has a Pathological Laboratory for analysis of Blood, Urine, Sputum, Blood Sugar, Lipid profile etc. the Hospital has the facility of USG & ECG.
  7. Indian Red Cross Society Karimganj District Branch is a Mother NGO to carry out Reproductive & Child Health Program (RCH) in collaboration with National Rural Health Mission.
  8. The IRCS Karimganj District Branch has been entrusted by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India to run District Disability Rehabilitation Centre (DDRC) here.
  9. The Society has a warehouse, static Dispensary. It also provides Ambulatory Service on call.
  10. The Society is ever ready to extend relief to the helpless victims of natural calamities like flood, earthquake, Landslip or fire as a part of its mission.
